SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Student-Athlete Spotlight is a weekly feature on SAUCougars.com that will highlight student-athletes from the 15 intercollegiate athletic programs that make up Cougar Nation.

This edition features Aimee Konkel of the women's basketball team.

STUDENT LIFE

How did you decide SAU was the right place for you?

I visited a few different schools before Spring Arbor but this school was just the right size. I like the team and the atmosphere and the cross cultural program really caught my eye as well.

Why did you choose Business Administration as a major?

I chose Business Administration because my mom strongly suggested it, and I didn't really like anything else lol

Describe your experience through your first few years at SAU.

My first three years at SAU have been a lot of fun and I have learned a lot since I've been here.

What is your favorite class that you've taken at SAU?

Probably aerobic activities

Best place to study on campus?

My room

What are your goals for this season (personally and team)?

I wanted to be a leader for this team on and off the court. We had a goal of being in the middle of the pack in the conference and to just compete and have fun.

Probably Le Ann

What is your favorite athletic moment?

30 point game against Rochester College

Is there a professional athlete, or former player, whose skills you emulate?

I just shoot a lot of 3's lol so anyone who shoots lots of 3's

Pre-game superstition/ritual

Jam to music in the locker room! I always have to wear the same two pairs of socks and put my shoes on before I put on my knee brace, then it's game time.

TRAVEL

Most interesting place I've visited

Washington D.C. and going into the White House

Place I would like to visit

I think it would be cool to visit Australia

Best piece of advice you're received

A friend from high school told me that "those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." It's a quote by Dr. Seuss but I thought it was perfect at the time that she told me.

Dream event you would like to attend

Summer Olympics

Beyond sports, where do you see yourself in ten years?

I see myself somewhere warm, married and successful in the work place

What is one thing many people do not know about you?

I used to be a cheerleader

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet and why?

I would want to meet Chris Kyle because he was the American sniper and I want to know more about his story.
