Ashton Combs Commits to Ferris State University

IMLAY CITY — Ashton Combs, who will be a senior at Imay City High School a few weeks from now, made a verbal commitment to become a part of the Ferris State University women's basketball team.

Ferris State University, in  Big Rapids, is a Division 2 school.

Grand Valley State University, Northwood University, Saginaw Valley State University, Lake Superior State University, Davenport University, Concordia University, Siena Heights University, Eastern Illinois, Tiffin University, Olivet Nazarene, Benedictine University and Albion also recruited the Imlay City standout.

Combs, a 5-10 forward, is coming off an outstanding junior campaign which saw her accumulate 436 points in 20 games. That worked out to an average of 21.8 points per contest.

That placed her first on the Imlay City ballclub and among those who earned an appearance on the Tri-City Times All-Area first team lineup.

She also grabbed 264 rebounds, registered 42 steals and handed off 30 assists.


Combs wrapped up her second season on Imlay City's varsity as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team choice as well as Associated Press Class B All-State Special Honor selection.
