GIRLS BKB: JOHN GLENN 60, BAY CITY CENTRAL 33
John Glenn prides itself on defense.
But the Bobcats proved they can also pile up the points.
With a strong performance on both ends of the floor, Glenn powered past Bay City Central for a 60-33 victory – the first Saginaw Valley League victory for the Glenn girls basketball program.
“We finally put some pieces to the puzzle together offensively tonight and showed how good we can be when we play the game the right way,” Glenn coach Cory Sniders said. “This is really going to be a good game for us to build on as we try to get better for the postseason.”
Glenn (5-5, 1-2) was in control at 24-10 by halftime then poured in 36 second-half points.
Freshman Carly McCrum led the attack, scoring 19 points and dishing eight assists.
“She was very aggressive going to the basket, and that allowed her to also knock down some shots,” Snider said. “I was impressed with the way she played offensively. This was definitely her best all-around game.”
Laekyn Couture and Abi Tarrant each scored nine points and Ezra Lomba added eight in the win.
Olivia Willette led Central (1-9, 0-4) with 12 points and six rebounds while Brooke Beyer tallied eight points.
